*To amend state electoral law

From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the three candidates nominated by the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani as Permanent Commissioners in the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission.

The  Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman disclosed this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna on Friday.

The statement said that the nominees were Ahmed Yahaya, Abubakar Sadiq M, USA, and Halima Sani Aminu.

The statement added that the bill to amend the State Electoral Law No. 2 of 2021 has been passed into law.

“This amendment is aimed at enhancing voter registration procedures and reducing the likelihood of electoral fraud.

“The revised law introduces several key changes to improve transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the conduct of elections. The law also includes measures to protect the rights of voters and candidates by ensuring that elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

“In the same vein, I received a delegation led by Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, where we had an in-depth discussion on school feeding and other programs for school children, such as the “Value for Money Initiative.”

” This initiative which aims to ensure value for money will be a public-private partnership project. It is intended to be implemented with support from non-governmental organizations including PCD; an NGO under Imperial College London. We also explored areas of partnership with the Kaduna State Government.

“I emphasized the need to continue with the initiatives they have started as they will significantly impact school children. As a pioneer chairman of the Kaduna State House of Assembly on School Feeding, I feel that these  initiatives are timely and will benefit many school children.” the  statement read.”
