From Abubakar Abdullahi, in Lafia
The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has suspended the Chairman and members of the state Teachers Service Commission over illegal appointments of over 1000 teachers.
The suspension followed a meeting between the Governor and members of the commission in Lafia.
It would be recalled that Governor Sule had directed for the employments of 1000 secondary school teachers whereas the commission employed over the approved number.
The 1000 employed in line with the Governor’s directive were paid the December salaries while the remain over 1000 illegally appointed not paid after working for four months.
Worried by the public out cry over non-payment of salaries to the over 1000 teachers allegedly employed, Governor Sule summoned a meeting of members of the TSC, Commissioner and other officials of the State Ministry of Education.
During their submissions at the meeting members of the Teachers Service Commission admitted to employing over one thousand teachers without due approval.
This led to the suspension of the Teachers Service Commission Chairman and Members by Governor Sule who also ordered for the setting up of a committee to investigate the illegal recruitment and submit a comprehensive report for further action.
