US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have addressed a press conference on Monday after a meeting at the White House on a 20-point proposal by the US to end the two year old war in Palestine.
The proposal was not explicit on a two-state solution to the dispute, but urged Hamas to accept the ceasefire deal in 72 hours.
France, UK, Canada, Australia and many other countries have already recognized the state of Palestine, while Trump said at the press conference that their recognition was foolishly done.
According to the deal, after 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting the ceasefire agreement, all hostages will be released and returned to Israel.
The proposal also provided that once the Israeli captives are released, all 250 Palestinian prisoners will also be released.
According to the White House, both Israel and Hamas must make some concessions to make the deal work.
The proposal suggested that If both sides agree to the proposal, the war will end immediately.
Hamas was neither part of the meeting between Trump and Netanyahu, and words were yet to be received from them as to whether or not they agree to the terms of the proposal.
Also, the right wing members of the Netanyahu’s coalition who have been focused on continuing the war are yet to accept or reject the commitments by Natanyahu in the peace proposal.
According to Trump, if Hamas fails to accept the proposal, Israel will be at liberty to continue its war on Gaza and other parts of Palestine.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu had apologized to the state of Qatar over the attack targeting Hamas leaders which violated Qatar’s territorial integrity and also killed a Qatari official.
