The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, is the new Chancellor of Borno State-owned university, Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU).

His investiture in that capacity comes up on Saturday, January 3, when the institution holds its first combined convocation ceremony, where he is to, along with famous industrialist, Mohammed Indimi, be conferred with D.Litt (Honoris Causa).
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Babagana Gutti, told newsmen, Thursday, January 1 in Maiduguri that the Ife monarch’s appointed to that capacity was approved by the state governor, Babagana Zulum.
At its inception in 2016, the university started with four faculties – Agriculture, Arts and Education, Social and Management Sciences, and Sciences. The number of the faculties grew later with the addition of the faculties of Engineering as well as Medicine & Health Sciences.
“With the approval of the Borno State government, post graduate programmes as well as new faculties of Law, Environmental Sciences and Computing will be established,” Prof Gutti said, adding, “Also, programmes like Arabic, Physical and Health Education and Library Science will be established.”
The university is to convocate 2294 graduates of three sets – 2022/2023 set, 523, among whom five bagged First Class degrees; 2023/2024 set, 489, out of whom, 10 graduated with First Class; and 2024/2025 set, 1282, among whom are First Class graduates.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to grace the occasion. END
