The Benue State Government has honoured Super Falcon player Franscisca Mlumun Ordega with the sum of 50 million Naira.
Orderga who was part of the Super Falcon team that won the Women African Cup of Nations, WAFCON for the 10th time recently in Morocco was also gifted a three bedroom apartment while a street is expected to be named after her in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
Governor. Hyacinth Alia announced this during a dinner to celebrate the Super Falcon player held at the New Banquet Hall, Government House Makurdi on Thursday night.
While congratulating Franscisca Ordega for her outstanding performance, Governor Alia encouraged talented young girls to emulate her resilience.
Alia said, “The State government is making a donation of 50 Million naira cash, a three-bedroom apartment in Makurdi Metropolis and a major street to be named in her honour.
“We also awarding 10 million naira to the coach Randy Ichull who nurtured Franscisca Orderga in Benue to become a star player.”
Responding, the Super Falcon forward, Franscisca Ordega expressed gratitude for the support from the state and Nigeria, and called on stakeholders to collaborate in sports development and infrastructure.
She encouraged Benue youths to embrace peace, love for one another, urging them to support the policies of the Benue state governor for development to thrive.
Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach to the Governor, Innocent TuBaba Idibia who was also in attendance at the event, commended the governor for supporting entertainment and sports.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) also presented a special award to Governor Alia in appreciation of his support for Nigerian football.
