Traditional rites, horse riding and cultural displays highlighted the ceremonies in Gashua, the Bade Emirate Council, headquartered in Gashua, Yobe State, during the grand traditional ceremony to install five newly appointed district heads.

These were part of the long-standing cultural and traditional practices marking the events.
The colourful ceremony, held on Saturday in September 3 2026, attracted prominent government officials, traditional rulers, security personnel and other dignitaries from within and outside the emirate.
The event featured traditional drumming and dancing, cultural displays, horse riding and other activities showcasing the rich heritage and customs of the Bade people.
The ceremony was attended by the Emir of Bade, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Umar Sulaiman, the Deputy Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yau Ibrahim Dachiya, as well as members of the State House of Assembly and other dignitaries.
The newly installed District Heads were Barrister Ibrahim Usman, Hakimin Gogaram; Garba Alhaji Budde Sherrif, Hakimin Zabudum; Yerima Maina Malum, Hakimin Muguram; Suleiman Maina Kirama, Hakimin Katamma Girgir; and Alhaji Sabo Lamido, Hakimin Nasari.
The ceremony was conducted peacefully and in an atmosphere of celebration and cultural pride.
In his message, the Emir’s spokesperson urged the newly installed District Heads to remain committed to the development of their respective domains and to prioritise the welfare, peace and security of the people under their leadership.
He also called on them to work closely with their communities in promoting peace, unity and peaceful coexistence across the Bade Emirate.
