The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has affirmed Sheikh Naziru Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Bauchi State.
This followed a special delegates congress held on Wednesday in Bauchi.
The exercise was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC), with delegates drawn from the 20 local government areas of the state in attendance.
In his acceptance speech, the governorship candidate, Sheikh Naziru Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, thanked delegates for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a major honour.
He pledged to prioritise education, security, economy, self reliance and healthcare, if elected governor, describing the sectors as critical to the development of Bauchi State.
Naziru expressed optimism that the Party would win across all elective positions in the 2027 general elections, citing the essential qualities of its candidates.
The gubernatorial candidate said “My ambition to serve as Governor is driven by the desire to bring responsible leadership, economic growth, youth empowerment, justice, and equal opportunities to every citizen of our state.”
“This movement is not about politics alone; it is about rebuilding hope, restoring trust in government, and creating a future where every citizen matters regardless of tribe, religion, or social class”.
He pledged to build a peaceful, prosperous, secure, and economically independent state where every citizen has access to quality education, healthcare, infrastructure and opportunities for success.
Naziru said he will provide transparent and accountable leadership, empower youths and women through sustainable programmes and to create jobs, reduce poverty and to ensure fairness and justice in governance.
Earlier, the state chairman of the party Alhaji Ibrahim Dantalle assured that the Party as one of the oldest Party in Nigeria will field candidates that will be acceptable to the people.
The chairman said that gubernatorial aspirant of the party voluntarily decided to step down for Naziru because of his quality, capacity, leadership skill and advised Naziru to carry them along .
He presented Naziru to the people as the party’s gubernatorial candidate which the people accepted with one voice .
