From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved a decisive victory in the by-elections held for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and the state constituencies of Zaria and Sabon-Gari in Kaduna State.

Professor Abubakar Jumare announced the results for the House of Representatives by-election in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, stating that the APC received 34,580 votes, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 3,477 votes, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) obtained 11,491 votes.

He declared, “Joseph Bagudu of APC, having satisfied the requirements, is hereby declared elected.”

In the Zaria Kewaye Constituency, APC secured 26,613 votes, defeating the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, who received 5,721 votes.

The Returning Officer, Professor Balarabe Abdullahi, confirmed that Isa Haruna of APC is the duly elected candidate.

For the Barawa Constituency, the Returning Officer, Professor Nasiru Rabiu, announced that the APC received 10,026 votes, while the PDP garnered 5,499 votes.

Ahmed Maiyaki, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information-designate, emphasized that the APC’s sweeping victory reflects Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to inclusive governance and development for all, irrespective of political or religious affiliations.

He noted that these victories indicate the party’s expansion into areas previously considered opposition strongholds and reinforce APC’s political dominance in Kaduna State, especially since these contests were viewed as a significant test of strength between the ruling party and the opposition.

Maiyaki remarked, “This emphatic victory has been described by political observers as ‘historic and symbolic,’ representing the breaking of a long-standing barrier in a constituency that had consistently resisted the APC’s advances.

With this breakthrough, the party has consolidated its hold on Kaduna State, reaching into territories that were once strongholds of the opposition.”

Analysts attribute this success to Governor Uba Sani’s grassroots-focused governance style and his commitment to people-oriented projects.
