Ahead of the National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday (today), the All. Progressives Congress, APC Governors Forum held a strategic meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja on Wednesday night.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, confirmed the meeting when he spoke to newsmen at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja afterwards.
Governor Uzodimma described the meeting as a “convenient discussion” with the President aimed at strengthening the party and enhancing its capacity to deliver good governance to Nigerians.
He explained that as a sub-national government body after the national level the governors met to align with the president on party matters and governance priorities.
When asked whether any major decisions or contests are expected during the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, the governor said, “We cannot say what will happen until we get there tomorrow.”
The NEC meeting is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the party and chart a path forward especially as they relate to the nomination of a substantive national chairman, following the exit of Abdullahi Ganduje.
