The Newly appointed Technical Adviser of Lobi Stars football club, Daniel Amokachi has said that he is prepared to lead the team to success in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
Amokachi who assumed as Chief coach of the Makurdi- based side on Monday, said this while speaking with Sports writers at the team’s training ground at the McCarthy Stadium.
The new technical adviser also expressed his readiness and commitment to bring his knowledge of the game to bear in the team, emphasizing on the dire need to prioritize the welfare of the players.
He noted that Lobi is composed of seasoned players, and that he will work on areas of improvement and stability of the team to ensure the players produce the needed result.
Said he: “Football is practical; sometime the way we want it is not the way you get it. When we say it is a rough path but actually 5 games, 1 win, 3 losses and 1 draw is not a bad result in football . But if the team feels the need for a change, it is their call. We have seasoned players. I will work with the team today, this is my first session and I will see where the team need improvement and stability so as to get the result the fans yearn for.
“By God’s grace I will give 120 percent. I will bring my knowledge of the game and the rest is the principal actors that is the players who need to be taken care of to give you what they want. Welfare of the players should be number one priority. I can back the players on empty stomach. If you demand from them, they will give their best.
“In my discussion that was the priority. If the players are happy, them you will see a different Lobi Stars
“I will work with the players that I see and the formation that will work for us at home and away. I expect the players to give 120 percent performance. Well, it is normal that you have a slot for whom you want to work with but there are coaches that are already here. We will talk and relate and see if we can work together. But it is always advisable to work with those on ground, you cannot come and sweep everybody away it means you do not know what you are doing. They are the insiders as they know what you do not know . If I succeed they will contribute 100 percent towards that. They are the lieutenants. They own the team and not the coach.
“The reason why I came back to coaching is because there was a time when you were not sure of picking your points at away or home. You work from Monday to Friday and on matchday, someone decides who wins. In the last three seasons, I thank God for the new board of the NPFL, for Davidson Owumi that have brought revolution into the game. That is the reason why I made up my mind and saif I think it is a good time to back and coach”.
