From Suleiman Amagbor, Lagos

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has affirmed its commitment to support the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to implement a Civil Service Culture Change initiative, aimed at fostering a culture change within the civil service.

The foundation said that improving the lives of Africans through public service transformation and quality healthcare remains an important part of its vision.

Speaking at the 2024 Civil Service Week Gala/Award night in Abuja, Chairman Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede praised the efforts of civil servants in Nigeria that are often an overlooked critical ingredient in conversations around the growth and development of Nigeria.

While commending the leadership of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi Esan, he said her leadership has been pivotal in steering the Nigeria civil service towards transparency, greater efficiency, and effectiveness.

The theme of this year’s Civil Service Week; ‘Educating 21st Century Africans: Strengthening Education Systems for Enhanced Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa’ Aig-Imoukhuede said underscored the vital role a strong civil service plays in national development.

Civil servants received certificates of excellence and cash gifts of ₦500,000.00 each in recognition of their dedication to public service excellence just as the foundation disclosed that since 2022, awards have been presented to 72 civil servants who have demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication in their roles.

Highlights of this year’s events were the award of cash prizes to top performing civil servants through the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Memorial Endowment Fund and the launch of the eagerly awaited Civil Service Culture Handbook, supported by the Foundation.
