For the umpteenth time, Borno State is seeking divine intervention over the resurgence of terror, declaring statewide fasting on Monday, November 24.
Over the recent months, the resurgence of Boko Haram/ISWAP terror has claimed over 100 lives across the state, most especially in Lake Chad shores, Mandara hills and Nigeria-Cameroon border communities.
“As a people of faith, we believe our security strategies must be underpinned by prayer,” Governor Babagana Zulum posited in a statewide broadcast, Saturday, November 22.
He, therefore, said: “I, hereby declare Monday, 24th November, 2025, as a Statewide Day of Fasting and Prayer for the restoration of peace in Borno State and the country.”
Zulum continued: “On this day, I call upon every resident of Borno, regardless of faith, to join in prayer for the lasting peace and prosperity of our beloved state and Nigeria,” stressing, “Let us therefore devote ourselves to constant prayers, seeking Almighty God’s mercy.”
The governor urged the residents of the state to use the period to pray for divine protection for Borno and Nigeria against evildoers, saboteurs, and all enemies of peace.
He assured that the state government would continue to invest in the welfare of security forces, support community-based vigilance, and pursue dialogue where possible, without compromising the state’s integrity or the safety of our people. END
