2027: Amaechi, Mark, others float All Democratic Alliance, seek INEC’s registration

Notable politicians have signified desire to float a new political party to contest the 2027 general elections.

Members of the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) have floated a new political party, the All Democratic Alliance, ADA.

The coalition group has already applied to the Independent National Electoral Community sdion (INEC) for registration as ADA as a political party.

The application letter dated 19th June 2025, signed by Chief. Akin Ricketts, Protem National Chairman and Abdullah Musa Elayo, Protem National Secretary was addressed to the INEC chairman.

Attached to the letter were party logo (flag/depicting the name, acronym and slogan of the party), manifesto, party constitution and minutes of meeting.

The ADA, in its letter to INEC, explained that the application for registration was sequel to the decision taken by the Nigerian National Coalition Group to sponsor the association for full registration.

The letter was received and acknowledged at the INEC office with official stamp dated 20 June 2025.

A communique issued at the end of its meeting, made available to the media, said the Nigerian National Coalition Group “made up of critical and reputable national political figures, chaired by former Senate President, Senator David Mark, met in Abuja Tuesday, 6th May, 2025 and set up a new platform committee consisting of 15 members and mandated it to form an association for the purpose of applying to the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) with a view to registering a new political party.”

Former governor of Rivers State and immediate past Transportation Minister, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi emerged Chairman of the New Platform Committee while Dr. Umar Ardo emerged Secretary.

The New Platform Committee met in Abuja on Thursday, 19th June, 2025 and resolved among others and “approved the formation of a political association named All Democratic Alliance, approved its conversion into the said political association named All Democratic Alliance, approved that the association apply to INEC for registration as a political party by its name – as All Democratic Alliance (ADA)”.

Also at the meeting, the Group “approved the Party Logo, Slogan and Motto approved the party manifesto, approved the Constitution of the Party; and approved the appointment of the Interim Leadership of the party as follows: Chief Akin A. Ricketts, Protem National Chairman and Abdullahi Musa Elayo, Protem National Secretary”

The meeting as well approved for the interim leadership of the new political party (ADA) to “secure a befitting Office Accommodation of the party, facilitate the registration of the Party with the Independent National Electoral Commission, and when successful, open a bank account for the Party for financial transactions; and Operate the activities of the party as enshrined in the Constitution of the Party and the Electoral Act. (2022).
