Nigeria police officer under the Nasarawa State command has recovered AK 47 rifle and a suspected stolen motorcycle from a criminal on the run.
Command Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel made this known in a statement available to journalists in Lafia.
According to the Police statement, the command got intelligence on the movement of the AK 47 and other related items which made officers to swing into action that led to the discovery.
“On June 7, 2025, at about 1600hrs, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, received credible intelligence regarding the movement of a suspected criminal transporting arms and ammunition”
“Acting on this report, the Commissioner ordered a coordinated manhunt to apprehend the suspect”
The statement added that in compliance with the directives, police operatives conducted a stop-and-search operation along the Giza-Kadarko Road where the AK 47 Rifle, two magazines and fifty five round of ammunitions of 7.62x39mm live ammunition were recovered.
“In compliance with CP directives, police operatives from Giza Division mounted a strategic stop-and-search operation along the Giza-Kadarko Road. During the operation, a suspicious individual riding an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was intercepted. However, upon being flagged down for questioning, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush, evading immediate arrest”
The Nasarawa State Police Command PPRO Nansel further expressed the command’s commitment in ensuring the safety and security of all residents as public have been urged by the command to remain vigilant as well as promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via emergency contact lines.
