Katsina Health Ministry shuts down 22 health institutions, gives a nod to 9 others

The Katsina State Ministry of Health (MOH), has shut down 22 private tertiary institutions in the state for not meeting up the requirement to operate.

Alhaji Umar Mamnada, Special Adviser (SA), to Governor Dikko Umar Radda on Tertiary Health Institutions who disclosed this during a press conference with newsmen in Katsina said 9 others were allowed to operate.

The SA said that the clamp down on the 22 Private tertiary health institutions was in reaction to the outcry and complaints from the general public and parents that the schools failed to meet the standards substandard as to operate as health institutions.

According to him, the affected schools will remain closed until they meet the necessary requirements before they will be allowed to continue.

Mammada said ” That is obvious, because anything short of that , the administration of Governor Dikko Radda in Katsina State will not accept it because health issue is very delicate and sensitive as it has to do with human lives”

“Therefore, we will not allowed private health institutions that don’t have requisite qualifications to produce half-baked health workers personnels that will graduate and be killing people like the bandits’

According to the SA, the administration of Malam Dikko Radda in Katsina State will remained focused and resolute to ensure that only qualified private institution were given the licence to train health is workers that will save lives in the society.

The Citizenship Daily recalled that 31 private Tertiary health institutions across the State secured the conditional approval from the Katsina State Ministry of Health to operate but only 9 were able to scale through, while 22 out of the number failed to meet the requirements.
