From Ahmad Muhammadu Saka, in Bauchi

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has identified kidnapping, banditry, and the proliferation of small and light arms as major security challenges that require urgent intervention by relevant authorities.

He made this known while receiving participants of the 47th course of the Nigerian Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji during a courtesy visit to the Government House Bauchi.

Represented by his Deputy Muhammad Auwal Jatau, Governor Mohammed acknowledged the successes recorded by the military in the ongoing fight against various forms of criminality.

He however emphasized the need to increase the presence of security personnel in vulnerable communities to consolidate the gains and ensure lasting peace.

The Governor also urged the course participants to proffer practical and effective solutions to the security issues they identified during their study tour stressing the importance of such contributions to national development.

Earlier, the team leader, Air Commodore A. Audu noted that the study tour aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the country by leveraging grassroots intelligence.

He commended the State Government for its efforts in improving infrastructure and engaging youth in meaningful ventures which he described as essential steps toward securing a brighter future.
