From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

Barely 24 hours after his abduction, a Kaduna Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, has regained his freedom from his abductors.

The Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed the priest’s release in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

According to the Chancellor, Fr. Amos returned unharmed on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

“With joy and gratitude to God Almighty, we write to announce the release of Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, who was abducted on 24th April 2025 in his residence at St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“Fr Amos returned unharmed on Thursday, 24th April 2025, at about: 00 pm.

“Although his abduction caused a surge of worry, the concern shown by people of goodwill – those who occupy the social media space, the different faith communities, the security personnel within and outside Kaduna State, such as the local vigilante group, police and the Department of the State Security Service is overwhelming.

“Your kind gestures, love, and prayers are a testament to the fact that we are not alone in the struggle to respect and promote the dignity of human life.

“While we appreciate God for everything, we equally want to thank everyone for walking and praying with us in such a dark and terrible moment.

“May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of priests, religious, and all the angels, intercede for those in captivity and bring them back to their families and communities safe and sound, Amen.”

It would be recalled that Bandits, on Thursday, 24th April 025, kidnapped Rev Fr. Ibrahim Amos at his residence at Kurmin Risgaat about 12 5 am.

The Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Kaduna.

“With profound sorrow, we write to announce that Rev. Fr Ibrahim Amos, the Parish Priest of St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was abducted.

“While we solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release, we invite the general public to avoid taking the law into their own hands.

“We will use every legitimate and available means to ensure that Rev. Fr Ibrahim Amos returns to us unharmed and in good health.

“May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of priests and religious, and all the angels continue to intercede for us and bring him back to us safe and sound.”
