The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar has

Yusuf Tuggar

said that Nigeria has transited from spectator to decision makers in global affairs.

Tuggar who made this known Thursday at the “2025 Ministerial Press Briefing Series” in Abuja said, “The world no longer asks, where is Nigeria? they ask ‘what is Nigeria doing next? We have transitioned from spectators to decision makers. And as we continue this journey, one thing is certain – Nigeria is not just part of the conversation; we are leading it”.

Tuggar said that their focus was on Citizen-Centric Foreign Policy that ensures dignified treatment for Nigerians abroad and enhancing its global standing.

Speaking further, he expressed readiness to bring ‘Digital consular services at fingertips with the aim of enhancing efficiency in visa matters and streamlining government travel processes while providing online access to requests for Note Verbale, Consular Assistance, Letters of Introduction and Notarisation/Legalisation.

He stated he was leveraging Nigerian superpower under cultural diplomacy, increasing foreign direct investments that create jobs back-home.

Tuggar also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing the nation’s 4-D foreign policy, which focuses on Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography.

He explained that the 4-D foreign policy doctrine clearly defined Nigeria’s global role, interests, and active international engagement.

His words’ “Imagine a Nigeria where every citizen walks into any embassy, any airport, or business negotiation, not with fear or intimidation, but with confidence.

“Imagine a Nigeria whose passport opens doors, whose businesses lead global markets, and whose voice is not just heard, but respected.

“That Nigeria is no longer a dream. Nigeria’s foundation is being laid by President Tinubu’s 4-D foreign policy doctrine,” Tuggar said.

The minister highlighted achievements made in the past year, including repositioning Nigeria globally, amplifying its voice in multilateral and bilateral forums, and implementing the 4-D foreign policy.

He also mentioned successes such as securing the release of Nigerians detained in Addis Ababa, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, and evacuating African students from Ukraine.

Additionally, he highlighted efforts supporting Palestinian children affected by conflict and deploying 213 Technical Aid Corp (TAC) volunteers to ACP countries.
