*Urges IGP , other security agencies to provide security for them

By Folorunso Alagbede, in Abuja

A group within the Peoples Democratic Party, the ‘Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria’ group, has raised the alarm over the planned attack on key members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
Consequently, the group has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun to urgently protect them by providing adequate security for them.
The group raised the alarm, Wednesday, in a statement by one of its members in Niger State, Alaghi Aminu Gambo.
The Fix PDP Fix Nigeria group has equally urged the Inspector General of Police to investigate and invite one Emma Okoronkwo, an aide to former National Secretary of PDP, Senator Sam Anyanwu, and one Frank Edede, over an alleged plot to attack PDP National Publicity Secretary and other national working committee members on the instructions of a high ranking NWC member of the party PDP.
According to Gambo, “the planning of the meeting (to attack the NWC members of the PDP), took place yesterday (Tuesday) in an office in Wuye, Abuja, associated to a member of the party”.
Gambo also recalled that the PDP Press Corps has already issued a petition to the police regarding the assault on their colleague from The Sun Newspaper by the same Mr.Emma Okoronkwo.
Continuing in his statement, Gambo said, “the group is calling on the police and other security agencies to provide adequate protection for high-ranking NWC members as follows; national treasurer, national financial secretary, National woman leader, deputy national chairman (south)’ New national secretary, Zonal vice chairmen, National legal adviser, who believes in the rule of law, the PDP constitution and the Nigerian constitution.
“This protection is necessary to prevent any harm or intimidation that may arise from the alleged plot.
“We urge the police to take immediate action to investigate this matter and ensure the safety of our national officers,” said Gambo.
“We will not tolerate any form of violence or intimidation within our party, and we expect the police to take our complaint seriously”, he added.
The Fix PDP Fix Nigeria group is committed to promoting the values of democracy, transparency, and accountability within the PDP.
“We believe that our national officers have the right to carry out their duties without fear of intimidation or harm”, the statement said.
The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon Debo Ologunagba had, at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, declared that the party will honour the judgement of a Court of Appeal which sacked Senator Sam Anyanwu as the Secretary of the party and named Hon Okey Ude as his replacement.
