The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has emphasized the importance of culture in shaping the identities and values of the people, saying cultural heritage is the foundation upon which people build their progress.

He said it is the responsibility of everyone to preserve culture for future generations.

He said this at the 2nd edition of the Southern Kaduna Festival, which was held at Kafanchan on Saturday.

The said that strict adherence to the culture and norms of society is a major tool for addressing immoral values, especially among the youth

The Governor lauded the various tribes that showcase their Cultural dances and food during the Festival, urging them to maintain it because it is their identity.

Gov Sani also commended the people of Southern Kaduna for ensuring peace prevails in the region, allowing for unhindered development, saying it is a clear demonstration of the commitment to inclusive governance and equitable development by his administration.

“I want to express my gratitude to the people of Zone 3 for reciprocating our efforts to bring development to the area by ensuring that peace prevails.
Sani highlighted some of the transformative projects his administration has undertaken in the past 18 months, including infrastructure development, agricultural support, education, youth empowerment, and healthcare.

The governor noted that his administration has recorded significant progress in the construction of roads, including the 22.5km Road from Gwantu to Godogodo and the 21.95km Road from Madauchi to Kafanchan.

He said, “We are committed to the massive transformation of rural communities, recognizing the immense potential that lies within them.

“We believe that by empowering rural communities, we can unlock the secrets to sustainable development, economic growth, and social prosperity.

“We have also installed 200 units of All-in-One Solar Street Lights across various local governments in Zone 3, illuminating our streets and enhancing safety for all.”

Sani also disclosed plans to convert the Sir Patrick Yakowa General Hospital, Kafanchan, to a Federal Medical Center, which would serve the diverse population spanning several Local Government Areas and neighboring states of Plateau, Niger, as well as the FCT.

“Upgrading it to a Federal Medical Centre will greatly improve healthcare accessibility, strengthen tertiary healthcare delivery, and provide opportunities for advanced medical training and research in the area,” he said.

In his remarks, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri applauded the inclusivity of Gov Sani, noting that he is a bridge builder who is uniting the people of Kaduna State together.

He, therefore, urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by living in peaceful coexistence.

Similarly, the Plateau State Governor Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang disclosed that Southern Kaduna people and people from the plateau shared cultural values which must unite them together.

He promised to continue working with Governor Uba Sani to ensure that peace and stability are sustained in the two States.
