Kaduna revenue agency seals off Bank, Chicken Republic outlet, BOA, others over N100bn tax liability

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has sealed off a premise of Unity Bank, Chicken Republic, the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), and First City Monument Bank (FCMB), all located along Yakubu Gowon Way over N100 billion tax liabilities.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications, Zakari Jamilu Muhammad, and made available to the media in Kaduna today (Tuesday).

The agency also sealed off the Hamdala Hotel Kaduna with LUC revenue liability of N113,134,272.00k, New Nigeria Development Company (Tens Story Building) with LUC revenue liability of N20,002,559.00k, Unity Bank at Yakubu Gowon Way with LUC revenue liability of N3,886,036.00k and Unity Bank main Branch Kaduna with LUC revenue liability of N3,115,920.00k.

Other premises sealed off are First City Monument Bank (FCMB) at Yakubu Gowon Way with LUC revenue liability of N11,539,086.00k, Zenith Bank at Yakubu Gowon Way with LUC revenue liability of N5, 355,229.00k, Forte Oil filling Station at Muhammadu Buhari Way with LUC revenue liability of N2, 238,546.00k, GT Bank Parking lot with LUC revenue liability of N622,284.00k A.G. Leventis Building with LUC revenue liability of N3,743,461.00k and Keystone Bank PLC with LUC revenue liability of N2,213,136.00k.

The statement stated that leading an enforcement team, Board Secretary and Executive Director Legal Services, Barrister Aisha Ahmad, said the agency embarked on the enforcement of non-payment of the Land Use Tax after exhausting all legal avenues of settlement.

The Service secured a court order for the immediate closure and taking over of the entire properties until all unpaid land-based revenue liabilities are settled.
