The National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the state working committee of the party in Benue state.
The party has been engaged in allegations and counter allegations of sponsorship of thugs during the Ward congresses in some local Governments in the state.
Two factions had emerged with the immediate past Governor, Samuel Ortom leading one while the just dissolved state working committee under the former Chairman, Sir John Ngbede leading the other.
The Ortom faction had suspended former Governor Gabriel Suswam and other party leaders over alleged insubordination.
The faction had summoned Governor Suswam to appear before it’s disciplinary panel over alleged anti-party activities. The former Governor ignored the summon .
But wielding the big stick, the national secretariat of PDP through its National organising Secretary, Honourable Umar Bature announced the termination of the entire state working committee in Benue state.
In a letter dated August 7, 2024 and addressed to the immediate past State chairman, Sir John Ngbede, the National Secretariat directed the party officials to vacate office effective immediate .
The National Secretariat also stated in the letter that a fresh caretaker committed for Benue state will be constituted to avoid any vacuum .
