The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspect who allegedly conspired to poison and rob a commercial motorcyclist of his motorcycle.
Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Nafi’u Habib who said this to reporters in Bauchi, explained that “The incident occurred on 14th October, 2026, following a distress call received from a Good Samaritan”
Nafi’u said preliminary investigation, revealed that one Isiyaka Badamasi ‘Male, 27 years old of Na’ibawa Area, Kano State, criminally conspired with one Ma’aruf Sani ‘Male of the same address, who is currently at large.
He said , “the suspects allegedly lured and poisoned their victim, 21 years old resident of Yelwa Tudun Area, Bauchi Metropolis, a commercial motorcyclist, by offering him a sweet laced with a harmful substance. Consequently, immediately after consuming the sweet, the victim became intoxicated, thereby rendering him vulnerable, at which point the suspects attempted to dispossess him of his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, value yet to be ascertained”.
He said “the victim, sensing danger, raised alarm, which attracted members of the public in the vicinity. Isiyaka Badamasi was apprehended, while his accomplice managed to escape. subsequently, the victim was rushed to Gamjuwa Primary Health Care Centre for medical attention and is currently on admission and responding to treatment, while the suspect is in police custody”.
Nafi’u said , the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, while effort has been intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplice who will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He said the CP warns criminal elements to desist from such nefarious acts and assures the good people of Bauchi State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
