The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Yobe State Chapter, has elected new executive members to run the affairs of the association for the next three years.

At the election held in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, Zulai Saiisu of Radio Nigeria Sunshine FM Yobe emerged as the new Chairperson after polling 47 votes to defeat Rebecca Luka of the Information Chapel, who scored 3 votes.
In her acceptance speech shortly after she was declared winner, Mrs Salisu thanked members of the association for giving her the mandate to serve and pledged to build on the achievements of her predecessor.

She also appreciated the leadership of the Yobe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, for facilitating a smooth, credible and peaceful election in line with the association’s constitution.
The new NAWOJ Chairperson commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his achievements in various sectors and described him as a friend of the media.
Mrs Salisu further called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as other stakeholders in the state, to collaborate with journalists as partners in progress.
Other elected officials are Hauwa Hassan of Yobe Television as Vice Chairperson; Murjanatu Hamisu Yalwa of Sahel Treasure as Secretary; Bintu Alhaji Larema of Yobe Broadcasting Corporation as Assistant Secretary; Halima Usman of NTA as Treasurer; Kaltum Jarma of Yobe Television as Financial Secretary; and Aisha Muhammad Saleh of NTA as Auditor.
