The Zamfara State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against criminality across the state.

According to a statement signed by the Police Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the operatives of the Command’s Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on credible intelligence, successfully arrested members of an armed criminal gang terrorizing residents of the Kasuwan Daji area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.

It said that the syndicate had been on the Command’s watchlist due to its alleged involvement in various criminal activities within the area.

During the operation, Police operatives intercepted and arrested the suspects who included Ali Bahago of Danakulu via Kasuwan Daji, Hassan Dan Kure of Kasuwan Daji, and Dahiru Lawali of Gidan Ango.

The statement further said that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of an armed criminal gang allegedly led by Ali Bahago, who has been linked to several criminal activities within the area.

“During the operation, one member of the gang was neutralized, while three suspects were arrested.

A search conducted at the residence of the alleged gang leader, Ali Bahago led to the recovery of a pump-action gun, single-barrel gun, fabricated G3 rifle, 2 Dane guns, 4 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

“Other weapons recovered were 9 pump-action gun cartridges, a handcuff chain, locally made pistol, and 3 Boxer motorcycles, as well as One locally made magazine.

“The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue with a view to apprehending other members of the gang and recovering additional exhibits”, the statement has added.
