In recognition of its adherence to social performance standards, the Dangote Cement Plant at Obajana has received award of the “Most Compliant Business Institution on Social Aspects Delivery” in Kogi State.

The award was presented to the company by the Kogi State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KOCCIMA) during its 2026 Annual General Meeting/Conference in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Presenting the award to the company on behalf of KOCCIMA, Vice President,  Conference of Northern States Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCIMA), Alhaji Auwal Ibrahim, urged the company to sustain the tempo.

Speaking, the Director-General of KOCCIMA, Mr. Samuel Enejoh, said the Award followed satisfactory outcomes of KOCCIMA’s independent consultations and investigations on the level of commitment of Dangote Cement Plant at Obajana to the Community Development Agreements (CDAs) signed with its host communities.

He said the company has greatly delivered on its corporate philanthropy and corporate social responsibility activities.

According to him, the award is to recognize and appreciate these landmarks and thus encourage the company to do more, adding that the Dangote Cement is a committed member of KOCCIMA.

The Award was received by the Plant Director, Mr. Azad Nawabuddin, who was represented by the General Manager, Social Performance, Ademola Adeyemi.

The plant Director described the award as a stimulant to do more, and not to rest on its oars.

“Let me assure the good people of Kogi State, especially our host communities, that Dangote Cement Plc will continue to honour and fully implement all provisions of its Community Development Agreements. We remain committed to deepening our investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic opportunities,” Mr. Nawabuddin said.

He added that over the years, the company has implemented a wide range of impactful programmes across its host communities, which include investments in education through scholarship schemes, expansion of access to clean water through the provision of boreholes, and ongoing infrastructural and social support schemes designed to improve quality of life.

The plant Director said: “Let me also use this opportunity to commend the Kogi State Government, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders for their continued support, cooperation, and commitment to peaceful coexistence, which has enabled our operations to flourish.

“I want to thank the Kogi State Chamber of Commerce for this recognition. We dedicate this award to our host communities, whose partnership inspires us to do more.”
