The Kaduna State Police Command has clarified that the minor explosion that occurred at Mando today which caused panic among residents was not a bomb explosion, but rather a gas leak from a luxury bus.
According to a press release by the police, the explosion involved an LNG-propelled luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which was parked at the motor park. Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident was caused by overfilling of the gas tank, not by any malicious activity.
“The vehicle has since been evacuated to a safe location, and the area secured. No casualties or loss of property were recorded, and normal activities have resumed in the area,” the police statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Muhammad Rabiu, PSC, MNi, has ordered a full investigation into the incident to prevent future occurrences. The bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force has also been dispatched to the scene.
The police are urging members of the public to remain calm and verify information before sharing, especially on matters relating to security. “The spread of unverified reports can cause unnecessary panic,” the statement warned.
The incident has caused concern among residents, but the police have assured the public that the situation is under control. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the gas leak and to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
