The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has on Thursday announced plans to set up a committee to investigate the accounting department of Taraba State University, Jalingo, amidst an ongoing indefinite strike.
Dr. Kefas made this known while receiving a 5-year peace plan from the Bureau for Conflict Management Board at TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
He linked the crisis at the university to corruption, said that those causing the trouble are involved in financial misconduct.
“Most of the people causing crisis in Taraba state university have indulged themselves in corruption in that university,” he said.
Kefas instructed the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Chief Barr. Gebon Timothy Kataps to fetch documents on previous investigations into the university, particularly the accounting department.
The Governor also commended the efforts of the Bureau for Conflict Management Board, led by Bishop Innocent Solomon, for their work on the peace plan.
“I am so impressed, you are so committed, and I want to assure you that I will look into your demands and respond to them appropriately,” he said.
