The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Monday, flagged off the electronic filing of cases for the State High Court, in a move aimed at deepening judicial reforms and enhancing efficiency in the administration of justice.

The e-filing platform was unveiled at a Go-Live ceremony held at the Grand Shields Hotel, Jalingo.
Speaking at the event, the governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, said the initiative underscored the commitment of the judiciary to innovation and the deployment of technology to address challenges inherent in manual court processes.
He noted that the system would promote transparency, accountability and efficiency in court operations.
Kefas explained that the e-filing system would reduce delays and administrative bottlenecks, improve record management and strengthen case tracking within the High Court system.
He reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to the constitutional independence of the judiciary and pledged continued support for reforms that enhance integrity and efficiency in the justice sector.
He urged judicial officers and court staff to fully embrace the innovation and deploy it effectively to improve case management, while upholding professionalism and ethical standards in the use of the technology.
In his remarks, the Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Joel Filibus Agya, described the launch as a significant milestone in the modernisation of the state judiciary.
He said the e-filing system was a deliberate and strategic intervention designed to transform how cases are initiated, processed and managed within the High Court.
Agya explained that the platform would enable the electronic filing of originating processes and subsequent applications, thereby reducing delays associated with manual registry procedures.
Also speaking, the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Justice of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, commended the Taraba State Government and judiciary for the initiative, noting that it would facilitate the speedy delivery of justice.
In a goodwill message, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Yakubu Maikasuwa, SAN, praised the reform, describing it as a strategic innovation that would promote transparency and reduce human error in the justice system.
The Chief Judge earlier, signed the Taraba State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2026 and Practice Directions on e-filing of criminal cases.
“A key feature of both the new rules and the practice direction is the mandatory filling of all civil and criminal cases through the Nigerian Case Management System,” he said.
