A former Member of the House of Representatives and 2023 Governorship Aspirant in Rivers State, Dr. Farah Dagogo, has called on Christians across Nigeria to emulate the exemplary life and teachings of Jesus Christ as a pathway to national renewal, unity, and sustainable development.
In his Christmas message commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, Dr. Dagogo urged Christians to reflect deeply on the true essence of the season by aligning their celebrations with the core values exemplified by Christ which centers on peace, love, humility, unity, tolerance, and selfless service to humanity.
According to him, the most meaningful way to honour the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is not merely through festivity, but by consciously striving to live according to His teachings at all times.
“Jesus Christ remains the embodiment of humility and unconditional love. His peaceful disposition and compassion for humanity, regardless of circumstances, offer timeless lessons that must guide our personal conduct and collective aspirations as a nation,” Dr. Dagogo stated.
He further encouraged Christians not to lose faith in Nigeria despite the prevailing socio-economic and political challenges, assuring that the nation, like Christ taught, will overcome its trials through steadfast faith, perseverance, and collective prayer.
“In His teachings, Jesus Christ consistently reminded His followers of the peace that prevails even in the midst of trials and tribulations. As a nation, Nigeria is currently navigating such challenges. Nevertheless, as Christians, we must not despair. Rather, we should use this sacred season to renew our faith and fervently pray for the growth, progress, and restoration of our beloved country,” he said.
Dr. Dagogo also emphasized the Christian obligation to demonstrate love in action by supporting the needy and less privileged, describing such acts as a true reflection of God’s love for humanity.
“As we celebrate this season, which serves as a profound reminder of God’s love for mankind, we must equally remember the needy and the less privileged by extending kindness and tangible support to them,” he noted.
Additionally, he called on Christians to pray for divine guidance and wisdom for leaders at all levels of governance, stressing the importance of God-fearing leadership in achieving national transformation.
“Let us also seize this occasion to pray earnestly for God’s continued divine guidance upon our leaders across all tiers of government, so they may govern with wisdom, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the common good,” he added.
He further urge Nigerians to embrace the true spirit of Christmas as a season of rekindle hope, collective responsibility, and unwavering faith in a better and more prosperous Nigeria.
