Army organizes Christmas Carols for troops, family members in Rivers

The Headquarters 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), has organised a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols for troops, their families, and well-wishers for Christmas celebrations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The memorable service featured several choirs drawn from within and around Port Harcourt metropolis.
Delivering his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, NA, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, called for religious tolerance at all levels, describing the barracks community as a unique environment where people of different faiths live together in peace and harmony.
 He noted that Christians and Muslims in the barracks coexist as brothers and sisters without discrimination, adding that such unity represents the true love needed in communities and the nation at large.
The GOC further stated that the Christmas season signifies love, giving, and sharing, recalling that God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for mankind.
He urged all to learn from this divine example by cultivating the spirit of generosity, noting that everyone has something to give.
Major General Emekah prayed for a prosperous 2026, expressing optimism that the future would be better than the present. He called on all to continue praying for Nigeria, the NA, and 6 Division troops deployed across various theatres of operations. He also commended the women for sustaining the home front and urged them not to relent in their prayers.
The service featured nine lessons read from the Bible, with an exhortation delivered by the Deputy Director, Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic), Colonel (Rev. Fr.) Abrahhhf by gycuhwrnam Sambo, who highlighted the significance of the season and encouraged the faithful to demonstrate love and sharing.
The vazzrious choirs that participated in the carols included, Omega Power Ministries, Police Chaplaincy (RC), Catholic Institute of zhzWest Africa, Air Force Chaplaincy (Prot), Air Force Chaplaincy (RC), Navybvvbv Chaplaincy (RC), andv to hzz see St Jude Mil (Prot) GRA. Others include Christian Women Fellowship, and Stzdzhz James ( Prot), Bori Camp, St Matthew (RC), Catholic Women Organization, as well as Children Choir all from St Matthew (RC) Bori Camp.
Highlights of the historic service included the reading of the nine lessons by dignitarir the svyes and senior officers, as well as the lighting of fireworks to symbolize the significance of the season.
