President Bola Tinubu has nominated 65 Ambassadors/High Commissioners for various countries.
The list has 34 Career/Ambassadors High Commissioners and 31 Non-Career Ambassadors/High Commissioners.
This was contained in two separate letters to Senate read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio at plenary on Thursday.
The first letter was titled “Request for confirmation of appointments Career Ambassadors/High Commissioners designate”.
President Tinubu said “In accordance with the provision of section 171 (subsection 1,2 c & 4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), I’m pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate the under listed 34 nominees as Career Ambassadors/High Commissioners designate.
The second letter was a request for confirmation of 31Non-Career Ambassadors/High Commissioners.
Notable nominees among the 34 career ambassadorial nominees are Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahned from Kwara State, Segun Ige from Edo State while notable among the Non career ambassadorial nominees are Senator Folasade Grace Bent from Adamawa State, Senator Solomon Ita Enang from Akwa-Ibom State, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo State, Vice Admiral Ibas Ibok-Ete (rtd), etc.
Meanwhile the three ambassadorial nominees, namely Kayode Are (Ogun State), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa) and Ayodele Oke (Oyo State), earlier forwarded to the Senate last week have been screened by its committee on Foreign Affairs while the new 65 nominees have been forwarded to the same committee for screening within one week.
