Zamfara: Bandits abduct two serving councillors, Chief Imam at tea spot

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted two serving councillors representing Gidan Goga and Tsibiri Wards under Maradun Local Government area, and a Chief Imam of Tsauni area, a suburb of Gusau the state capital of Zamfara State while taking tea at a tea spot around 08:00pm of last Wednesday.

An eyewitness account revealed that the gunmen had stealthily arrived the scene under pretence as customers to patronize the tea seller while targeting their victim for abduction.
According to one Salisu Maccido, the bandits suddenly swung into action as they asked six people in the first intance to go with them but later released three of them just after a little distance and went away with the remaining three including the Councillors and the Chief Imam of Tsauni community.
According to the Chairman of Maradun Local Government council, Hon. Sunusi Ahmed Dosara, his two abducted Councillors, Hon. Surajo Dangaladima and Hon. Rabi’u Bashar Tsibiri respectively are residing in Tsunami area of Gusau.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the Anti-kidnapping team has already embarked upon efforts to rescue the victims as well as arresting the gunmen.
