Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has been confirmed dead.
He died on Sunday in a London hospital.
A brief statement issued on Sunday afternoon by his former media assistant, Garba Shehu, confirmed that the former leader passed away in a London clinic.
Shehu’s statement reads: “INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIRRAJIUUN. The family of the former president has announced the passing of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
No further details were given immediately as to what might have caused the death, but Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, had intermittenlty visited London on medical vacation while he served as President.
