Former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Sir Mike Okiro has tasked Nigerians on the need to build a nation that authentically reflects the teachings of an ideal society that stands resolutely for unblemished justice, unwavering equity, and an all-encompassing love for all.
This, Okiro pointed out, should be done irrespective of race, political affiliation, religious creed, or personal interests.
The former IGP said this Tuesday night in Abuja on the occasion of the appointment and formal unveiling of His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Traditional Rulers Council as the Grand Patron of NigeriaFIRST FOUNDATION and the Iconic Brand Ambassador of NigeriaFIRST.
Sir Okiro, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the NigerianFIRST Foundation, further made case for the promotion of an enduring peace and meticulously cultivating a renewed national patriotic consciousness.
The former IGP lauded The Etsu Nupe’s unwavering dedication to cultivating a vibrant spirit of patriotism across Nigeria, particularly amongst the burgeoning youth, stressing that it is not merely commendable but a pillar of the national regeneration we fervently champion.
He explained that NigeriaFIRST Foundation, as a preeminent pro-good governance and social justice organization, is unequivocally committed to actualizing the “NigeriaFIRST” ideology.
Okiro also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold and intentional decision to reintroduce the indigenous
National Anthem, stressing that it has not only set a profound pace but has unequivocally placed a premium value on national interest and our authentic Nigerian identity.
“It is profoundly gratifying to note how this theme elegantly articulates a deeper understanding of our collective heritage, our intrinsic strengths, and our inherent destiny.
“It is meticulously designed to cultivate an unyielding culture of National Excellence and Global Prestige, reflecting the profound reverence Mr. President has attached to our rich and often-underestimated history”, he said.
Responding, the Etsu Nupe, who expressed excitement and appreciation at his conferment, promised to work harder for the unity and oneness of the country.
Dr Yahaya Abubakar pledged to work assiduously for the restoration of the dignity of Nigeria at home and abroad.
According to him, ‘this is an opportunity to advocate patriotism and restore the dignity of Nigeria at home and in diaspora”.
