The Zamfara State House of Assembly has confirmed the extension of tenure of the interim local government councils administrators for the next six months.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary of the House, Bello Madaro Kurya, said the assembly on Monday deliberated and confirmed the said extension, for another six months, for the fourteen local government interim councils in Zamfara State.
This followed the presentation of the report by the special committee led by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Adamu Aliyu Gummi, Mandated to Screen the local government interim administrators before their confirmation.
“All the fourteen local government interim administrators have appeared before the committee during the screening exercise.
“It could be recalled that on 24th April 2024, Governor Dauda Lawal sent a message through the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar M. Nakwada addressed to the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu seeking for confirmation of local government interim administrators for another tenure as required by the law.
“That necessitated the House under the leadership of Right honourable Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, to invite all the Councils interim administrators for cross-examination to ensure justice and fairness in the confirmation process’ ‘, the statement said.
According to it, after an extensive deliberation, the Speaker announced that, with unanimous consent of the entire honourable members, the house had approved and confirmed the extension of the fourteen local government interim administrators for another Six months as requested by the State Governor, Dauda Lawal.
The statement further disclosed that, Speaker Bilyaminu Moriki has charged all the fourteen local government Councils interim administrators to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring good and quality leadership in their various local government areas.
