President Bola Tinubu has approved free train service across the country to ease movement of Nigerians during the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivals.
The free train ride period will last between December 2024 to January 5, 2025.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced this Monday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the outcomes of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Idris also announced the decision by the Federal Government to rename the University of Abuja after the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
He said the naming of the university after Gowon is in a ppreciation and commemoration of his service to the nation.
Idris also said a hill to that effect would be forwarded to the National Assembly for necessary legislative actions.
