From Godwin Agia, Jalingo
The Wukari Traditional Council on Saturday night, organized a civic reception in honour of Hon. Justice Joel Agya, the Chief Judge of Taraba State.
The Aku Uka, His Royal Majesty, Dr Ishaku Adda  Ali, while presenting the plaque of honour to Agya at the occasion, noted that the CJ has held on to the virtues of integrity, uprightness and impartiality in justice administration.
Ali, who is the Chairman of Taraba state  Traditional rulers, said  the CJ’s activities had promoted the rule of law and enhanced the independence of the judiciary over the years.
“Hon. Justice Agya is a worthy son of  Wukari, who has distinguished himself in his chosen Career. His works, first as a lawyer and later  on the bench have been marked with integrity, impartiality and excellence.
“He has supported many young lawyers to grow in their career through out his journey to the top of Taraba judiciary,” he said.
Barr. Yakubu Maikasuwa SAN, the Taraba Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice commended the Wukari traditional Council for honouring the chief judge, saying it was an honour well deserved.
The Gara of Donga, Chief Sanvala Varzoa Shimbura in his good will message, described the CJ as an upright man, who has made a mark in the judiciary.
The royal father prayed God to evaluate Agya to the Supreme Court of Nigeria so that his wonderful contributions in the judiciary would be enjoyed by all Nigerians.
On his part, Barr. Sopiya Gboshi, the Chief of Takum, said he was personally inspired by the CJ as a young lawyer.
He advised  young people to emulate his virtues of integrity, impartiality, fairness and boldness in the administration of justice for a better society.
In his vote of thanks, Justice Agya disclosed that his journey in the Taraba state judiciary has been guided by God from the time of his appointment as a jude of the high Court to the moment.
The CJ noted that any time he had a case at hands, he would always ask himself “How will this case be decided if it was to be judged by  God” saying, an answer to this remained his guiding principle in passing judgements.
While expressing gratitude to the traditional Council for honouring him, Agya pledged to do more for the good of the society.
Citizenship Daily reports that highlight of the occasion was the decoration of the celebrant by the Wukari traditional Council leaders.
The occasion, which was held at the palace of the Aku Uka of Wuakri was graced by top officials in the judiciary in the state, traditional rulers, prominent sons and daughters of the area.
