The National Lottery Trust Fund under the Federal Ministry of special duties and intergovernmental Affairs was created to help use the proceeds of funds that accrued to the federal government of Nigeria from the remittances from gaming in intervening in the provisions of critical infrastructure of needs to all the geopolitical zones of the country. It is important to note that prior to this dispensation under the headship of Dr. Bello Maigari, CPM(London), FCPM., FCS, many Nigerians do not even know of the existence of the Agency, let alone of it’s functions and it’s impacts on society.

History has shown that only through strong institutions can a solid foundation for nation building be truly established. Dr. Bello Maigari, after his appointment as the executive secretary of the agency, immediately took up the challenge of building the agency as one of the best and strong institutions of government so strong enough in delivering on it’s mandates through interventions programmes and this he did through strategic thinking. The national lottery trust which was established with the aims of improving the citizens lives by the promotion of the provisions of critical infrastructures was truly in need of a strategic leader to drive this process by it’s egalitarianism leadership and this it got with the appointment of the present Executive secretary, Dr. Bello Maigari. The present management of the agency is today seen as succeeding because it is now seen to have changed the narratives of the agency for the better because all over the country and most importantly in the whole geopolitical zones of the country, the impacts of the agency’s new narratives are being felt positively.

Today, the changing narratives in the agency had succeeded in showing all who cares to know that the national lottery trust fund is signifying to all that indeed without doubt that strong institutions and not strong men are prerequisite for a nation to move forward towards sustainable prosperity and the birth of future prosperity.

Dr. Bello Maigari changed the narratives of the agency because of the facts that he is one leader who considers the building of the agency into a strong institutions as the foundation for sustainable development of the country. He succeeded in building the national lottery trust fund into an effective, accountable, and an incorruptible governmental agency through his painstaking work ready at all times to deliver on it’s mandates. No wonder, the agency has always now being applauded for being transformed into one of the most vital agency and so vital to the growth and development of the country, thanks to the leadership vision of Dr. Bello Maigari.

The national lottery trust fund is today seen as been crucial and a crucial player among the agencies of government for reasons well known to all Nigerians. It’s messages are now clear and we’ll understood by all because it’s leadership is seen to be paying a lot of attention to the rebuilding of the agency as a strong institutions providing the needed interventions in areas such a as health, education, sports, and cultural infrastructures so critical to the well being of all Nigerians. The agency is also showing more than ever before that it is always in the forefront in delivering the projects to make the country fulfil on it’s avowed target of meeting the united nations millinieum development goals,(MDG’s). Dr. Bello Maigari’s strategic blueprints and master plans for the agency’s transformation outlined ambitious goals relating to helping the agency fulfilling on it’s mandates at all times has helped in accelerating the growth and developments of the agency and the country at large. His visionary leadership’s is helping in the promotion of the agency as a surest route to achieving the country’s critical infrastructural growth and sustainable developments. Until his appointment by the former president,General Mohammadu Buhari, the national lottery trust fund was characterized by poor leadership dispensations but his tenure today is bringing the needed stability, legitimacy and the acceptance of the agency by the citizens as a catalyst for developments

Going forward, his strategic thinking, vision and leadership know how which recognises the fact that the crisis of Nigeria’s developments to be the crisis of it’s institutions ineffectiveness and the solutions to it’s present challenges as only requiring strong institutions like the lottery trust fund and governance vital to the delivery of it’s mandates.

Today if there is any lesson other governmental agency should learn from the Dr. Bello Maigari led leadership of the national lottery trust fund it is it’s leadership ability to elevate the agency from being mere tools for political propaganda or as a conduit pipe to steel government funds to enrich themselves hindering the agency from fulfilling on it’s mandates. No wonder before the appointment of Dr. Bello Maigari as the Executive secretary of the agency, the agency is seen as riddled with corruption, mismanagement s and that was the fundamental justification of the then president,General Mohammadu Buhari insisting on carrying out a recruitment process that locates him as the right man to move the agency forward and he has.
