From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

In a bold move to reimagine education in Nigeria, the Kaduna State Government is set to host the landmark KADA EduPACT International Summit 2025, a high-level convergence of global and local stakeholders to develop a strategic, homegrown education model for the state.

Addressing a press conference on Monday in Kaduna, the Commissioner, Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo said the summit, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 9 to Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, will be pivotal in transforming the education landscape of Kaduna State.

He noted that the summit, themed ‘Strategic Visioning for Educational Transformation: Developing a Kaduna State Education Model’, will focus on four key pillars: Policy, Governance and Innovative Education Financing; Access and Retention; Credible Learning Outcomes from Quality Inputs; and Technology and Innovation.

Describing the summit as “a pact between the government and the people”, Prof. Sambo emphasized its significance in shaping Kaduna’s education roadmap for the 21st century.

“This summit promises to be more than a conference, it is a forum for actionable ideas and partnerships that will lead to a functional Kaduna State Education Model”.

He attributed the growing momentum for education reform in Kaduna to the visionary leadership of Governor Uba Sani.

According to Sambo, Kaduna has become the first state in Nigeria to domesticate and implement the National Policy on Safety, Security, and Violence-Free Schools (NPSSVFS).

He also highlighted the Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOS) project, an initiative supported by development partners such as the Islamic Development Bank, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, GPE, UNICEF, and Save the Children International.

He added that the project is already operational across all 23 LGAs, with efforts geared toward building 102 new schools, renovating 170 existing ones, training teachers, and establishing a data-driven monitoring system to track enrolment and retention.

The Commissioner noted that the summit is expected to host high-profile figures, including the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed as keynote speaker, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, Honourable Minister of Education, and many others.
