The Senate has adjourned plenary to Tuesday December 16 to allow its Committee on Finance and other relevant committees work on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP.
This was sequel to President Bola Tinubu’s formal transmission of the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to the Senate for consideration and approval.
The submission is in line with the regular legislative procedure that precedes the presentation of the annual budget, setting the fiscal parameters for the next three years.
The document, which was approved by the Federal Executive Council on December 5, was read during Thursday’s plenary by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin.
Jibrin immediately referred the communication to the Committee on Finance with a mandate to report back on Wednesday, December 17.
Following the referral, the Senate adjourned plenary to allow the relevant committees to focus on the MTEF and the screening of ambassadorial nominees.
