The Kaduna State Police Command has foiled the activities of a kidnap gang operating in the state, arresting six suspects and recovering two AK-47 rifles and two fabricated AK-47 rifles.
This was contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO DSP Hassan Mansir, and made available to the media in Kaduna today, Friday.
The statement stated that the command’s anti-kidnapping unit, led by CSP Sani Zuntu, intercepted a suspicious consignment in Kaduna containing a fabricated AK-47 rifle concealed in a sack.
The police operatives followed up on the lead and arrested two suspects in Gusau, Zamfara State, who had arrived to receive the illegal firearm. The suspects, identified as Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, are currently undergoing investigation.
In a related development, the police had earlier rescued a kidnap victim, Hussaini Ibrahim, who was abducted by unknown persons in Ungwan Ninzom, Jagindi Tasha Village, in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victim was found with a gunshot wound on his leg, inflicted by the kidnappers, and was successfully rescued and reunited with his family.
Four suspects were arrested in connection with the kidnapping, including Umar Yusuf Jabiri, Buhari Muhammad, Ahmadu Nasiru, and Zakari Saleh. One AK-47 rifle and three fabricated AK-47 rifles were recovered from the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved and reassured residents of Kaduna State that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
He added that criminals have no hiding places in the state and thanked the Inspector General of Police for his continued support and encouragement.
The police command is currently conducting further investigations to get other participants in the crime arrested and will soon be prosecuted to face the wrath of the law.
