A 30 year old man, Abdullahi Muhammad who attempted to commit suicide has been arrested by the police in Adamawa state.
The suspect had on Sunday, 29 September 29, 2024 climbed up a 33KVA high tension pole in Mayo-belwa Local Government Area threatening to kill himself by jumping down to the ground, unless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu steps aside as president.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Command, S.P Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrest, saying that the operatives attached to Mayo-belwa Divisional Police headquarters were deployed to the scene of the crime and he was subsequently rescued.
Nguroje stated that the suspect, on the same date, climbed a 33KVA high tension pole along Yola – Jalingo highway and threatened to kill himself for reasons best known to him.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has on the 29/9/2024 arrested Abdullahi Muhammed, 30years old, an indegine of Gashaka local Government Area Taraba State, for attempting to commit suicide in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
“Commissioner of Police deployed operatives of the Command attached to Divisional police Headquarters, Mayo-Belwa to the scene of the incident. Luckily, he was rescued and taken into protective custody.
“He is currently being investigated and will be charged to court for attempting to commit suicide as the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, including preventing acts of self-harm”, Nguroje disclosed.
