The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested 5 suspected criminals for allegedly stealing items in Lafia and Karu Local Government areas of the State.
A statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel said said the suspects were arrested after complaints were filed against them by their victims.
He said “on 1st June 2024 a complaint was lodged at A Division Lafia that an electronic store situated at Rimi Uku, Lafia was bugled and items were carted away
“Upon receipt of the complaint, an investigation was immediately launched to arrest the criminals and recover the stolen items.”
He said consequently, four suspects, Sa’ad Kashina (24years), Bawa Saidu (30years), Sagir Mohammed (28years) and Isiaka Mohammed (20years), all males of Doma and Lafia local government areas were arrested in connection with the crime.
He explained that 4 Kapital solar batteries and 2 32ninch LG television sets were recovered from them.
According to the statement, the suspects confessed to selling 4 computer laptops, which were part of the stolen items in Makurdi, Benue State at the rate of Thirty Thousand Naira.
Similarly, the Commnad said a case of theft was reported at Masaka Division in Karu local government area of the State where one Bissan Mark, a male of Angwan Mission, Masaka, was arrested in connection to the commission of the crime.
The statement said a search warrant was executed at his residence where one locally fabricated revolver Pistol and a knife were recovered as exhibits.
He added that the Command is carrying out extensive investigation into the cases towards charging the suspects to court for prosecution.
