Two suspects have been arrested by the Nasarawa state command of the police over alleged stealing of 7-day-old child and motorcycle snatching.
Public Relation Officer of the command, Ramhan Nansel, DSP, in a statement said
on 28 September at about 1830hrs, Police operatives attached to Keffi Division arrested one Khadija Aliyu for stealing a seven days old baby girl during naming ceremony in Keffi.
The PPRO said the suspect claimed to be pregnant and attended a naming ceremony at behind INEC office in Keffi.
He explained that “while the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house and stole the baby that was laid to sleep.”
Nansel said the suspect carried the child, cover her at her back, with a veil and escaped before she was later arrested.
Similarly, the command has arrested one Hussaini Mohammed, alleged to be an ex-convict and a resident of behind stadium Keffi who left correctional service facility few months ago over theft of 3 motorcycles at Angwan Lambu also in Keffi.
The PPRO said investigation revealed that 3 motorcycles suspected to be stolen items were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.
Nansel said the State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has called on members of the public with cases of stolen motorcycles to visit Angwan Lambu Division at Keffi with proof of ownership to lay claims to the items.
The said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation, the Police said.
