The South Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has dismissed media reports alleging that South Sudan is engaged in talks with Israel to resettle Palestinians from Gaza in the country.
The Ministry said the claim which was published by several media houses including the Associated Press and Aljazeera were “baseless”.
According to Associated Press, “Israel is engaged in discussions with South Sudan regarding the potential relocation of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to the East African nation, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.”
The Ministry of Information, communication and Postal Services also refuted the claims which was shared by media houses based in South Sudan even when it attributed the article to Associated press.
However, the Minister of Foreign and International Cooperation, Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba, held high-level diplomatic talks in Jerusalem in early August where he was able to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the Ministry of Foreign affairs official Facebook page, the meetings centred around ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations.
The Minister also met Israeli Foreign Ministers Gideon Saar, at the Headquarters of the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem to forge path to enhanced cooperation in High-Level Meeting on the 29th July 2025.
Monday Semaya K. Kumba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met his Israeli counterpart.
The Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, H.E. Sharen Haskel also attended the meeting which focused on expanding bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
H,E. Gideon Saar reaffirmed the Israeli government’s dedication to supporting South Sudan across various fields.
On the 3rd of August 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Monday Semaya K. Kumba also, met with the Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, during a courtesy visit.
The two officials discussed areas of mutual interest and potential cooperation between South Sudan and Israel which the official page acknowledged, stating that the visit signified the importance of strengthening relations at multiple levels.
