The death toll from the Madaka attack in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state has risen to 66 people and over 40 persons were abducted from the village by the bandits.
Residents said the local vigilantes found many bodies in the forest after the armed bandits withdrew from the community.
It was reported earlier that 21 people were killed including the village head, Alhaji Salihu Saleh after the well-armed bandits entered the village shooting sporadically before embarked on the several abductions.
Over a dozen injured residents were still receiving treatment at various health facilities in the state just as those that escaped are currently being hosted in Makunkele, Bosso local government area of the state.
