Worried by the not too impressive performance of Lobi Stars, Chairman of the club Dr. Philip Nongu has decried complacency amongst the players.
In this vein, Dr. Nongu has warned sternly that the club management will not tolerate uncommitted and undedicated attitude from the player, maintaining that those ready to play for Lobi stars should be serious or get kicked out.
The club chairman gave the warning on Tuesday at the McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi at the unveiling of Lobi Stars new Head coach, Finnish man Mika Lonnstrom.
He said Lobi Stars is broken and the Governor had asked them to do everything to fix the team.
He said: “We are here as a board to fix Lobi Stars football club. The Governor did say that Lobi Stars is broken and he brought us to fix it. When you look at the league table, you will discover that the team is last but the league has just begun even though we have played 10 matches.
“Am hopeful that we are going to be there. No one should think that Lobi Stars will be relegated at the end of this season. We are trying to build a team. You all know that the team was scattered but what the Technical Adviser, Daniel Amokachi has done so far, he will surprise most of us. The team did well in their last match against Remo in Ikenne and I believe they will do better”.
The State representative on the club board, Sir James Iorpuu said the desire of the State governor is to make sure that Lobi retains its position in the football map of the country, stressing that they will do all within their powers to ensure they bring in the best from any part of the world to achieve this goal and ensure Lobi return to winning ways.
While appreciating the Technical Adviser, Daniel Amokachi for bringing a foreign head coach, Sir Iorpuu said the board is so far satisfied with what he is doing and will give him 100 percent support to make sure Lobi function properly.
“We thank Mika for accepting to work with us and promise to provide all necessary funding to enable him work well and take Lobi to the summit of the log as well as secure a Continental ticket at the end of the season”, he pledged.
The team’s Technical Director/Adviser Daniel Amokachi said the three last weeks with the team has veen very hectic especially having to play three games in three weeks securing two (2) draws and 1 win
He said, “Am not worried that Lobi Stars is sitting bottom of the league, am sure that with the work we are doing, when the window opens and with the appointment of the new head coach, before the end of the second stanza, we will be singing a different tune. I will now step back and do the technical touches to get Lobi Stars to be a more professional side”
The new Head Coach Mika Lonnstrom while reeling out his coaching resume said, “I have worked for 17 years as a coach and director of coaching in Finland being the youngest coach at the age of 16 in Europe. I have also, worked in Saudi Arabia in Asia, Flaminese in Brazil as well as slovakia where I had a project there to build young players. Here I see a lot of young players that we can develop. Did my A License in Wales and slovakia and also coached in Tanzania. I have identified the problems with the team and will do my best to bring it back to reckoning in the Nigerian Professional Football league”.
