Governor Bala said this today (Monday) in Bauchi while swearing in three newly appointed Commissioners and a Special Adviser and Chief Security Adviser.
He said following the apex court’s judgment, the ministry is no longer relevant and will now be headed by the Permanent Secretary.
The Governor announced the removal of Dr. Adamu Sambo Umar as the Commissioner of Health, describing it as “rejigging the machinery of governance for more results.”
He said that,”We have to rejig the cabinet in order to achieve the set objectives of the administration. We need to bring in fresh blood, brains with fresh ideas on how to move the state ahead positively.”
The Governor however explained that, “The former Commissioner of Health was not dropped because of any infractions, it was just part of reorganization of governance. Very soon, we will find a way to fix him in the government where he will be most relevant and more active.”
He advised the new Commissioners to immediately settle down to business by ensuring that they study all the handover notes left in their respective Ministries to be able to catch up with the speed of the administration.
The portfolios of the three Commissioners were given as follows: Zainab Mohammed Baban Takko, Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development; Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam, Ministry of Health and Engr Mohammed bin Abdulkadir, Commerce and Industries, while Dr AIG Abdulrahman (rtd) is the Special Adviser on Security Matters.
