From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna
Residents of Kutaho and Kugir communities in Kaduna State are living in fear as bandits threaten to kill 32 villagers abducted more than a month ago if a ₦30 million ransom and four motorcycles are not paid.
The victims, including women, children, and a heavily pregnant woman, were kidnapped on February 9, 2026, during a midnight raid by armed bandits.
The community has sold properties and farm produce to raise the ransom, but it’s still short of the amount.
“They are threatening to start killing our people if we don’t meet their demand,” said Elisha Musa, a resident.
The attack has forced many residents to flee, disrupting farming activities and worsening economic conditions.
The community is calling for increased security presence and better telecommunications infrastructure to prevent future attacks.
“We want our people rescued so those who ran away can return and continue living in peace,” said Adams Solomon, youth leader of the Kutaho community.
The Kaduna State Police Command and government have yet to comment on the incident.
